Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before booking your consultation.
-
You don't need to wait until breastfeeding becomes difficult to seek support.
If you're pregnant, an antenatal consultation can help you prepare for breastfeeding, understand what to expect and feel more confident heading into those early days.
After your baby arrives, I recommend booking as soon as you notice something isn't working for you. Whether it's painful feeding, concerns about milk supply or simply wanting reassurance, early support can make a meaningful difference.

-
Yes. Woolworths Moonee Ponds offers 1.5 hours of parking, and there are also 2-hour parking spaces on surrounding streets.
Please allow time for parking and check local signage and parking conditions when you arrive.
-
Just yourself, your baby and anything you regularly use for feeding - a support person is welcome.
If relevant, you may like to bring your breast pump, bottles, nipple shields or other feeding equipment so we can review how they're working for you.
Recent weight measurements or feeding records can also be helpful, but there's no need to prepare anything elaborate.
-
Ideally, yes. Seeing your baby breastfeed is often an important part of understanding what's happening.
If possible, aim for your baby to be ready for a feed during our consultation. If they're very hungry beforehand, offer a small feed to take the edge off rather than trying to keep them hungry.
Please don't withhold a feed or delay responding to your baby's hunger cues. We can always work around your baby's needs.
-
Absolutely. Partners and support people are always welcome.
Breastfeeding doesn't happen in isolation, and having someone who understands your feeding plan can make the transition home and the weeks ahead feel much more manageable.
Can I claim a Medicare rebate for my consultation?
-
Yes, eligible clients can access Medicare rebates for consultations with me as an Endorsed Midwife.
Medicare rebates may be available during pregnancy and up to 6 weeks and 6 days after birth, provided the relevant Medicare eligibility and referral requirements are met.

Some private health funds offer benefits for lactation consultations, depending on your policy and level of cover.
I recommend checking directly with your insurer before booking. A receipt can be provided for your records and any eligible claim.
Online Consultations
-
Online consultations are held via Google Meet, allowing us to work together from the comfort of your home.
We'll discuss your feeding concerns, review your baby's feeding history and, where appropriate, observe a breastfeed together.
You'll receive individualised advice and a practical plan tailored to your circumstances.
If possible sign into the call with a laptop and mobile device - this works well for support with latch and breastfeeding technique/positioning. -
Online consultations can be particularly valuable for antenatal preparation, pumping, bottle feeding, milk supply concerns, returning to work and weaning.
Many breastfeeding challenges can also be assessed and supported virtually. If I feel that you or your baby would benefit from an in-person assessment or additional clinical review, I'll explain this and help guide your next steps.
Breastfeeding Support
-
I support families through all stages of breastfeeding, from pregnancy through to weaning.
Common reasons for booking include painful breastfeeding, latch difficulties, nipple damage, low or oversupply, breast inflammation/mastitis, pumping, bottle refusal, mixed feeding, returning to work and toddler breastfeeding.
My approach combines my experience as an IBCLC Lactation Consultant, Endorsed Midwife and Naturopath to consider both your baby's feeding and your own health and wellbeing.
-
Absolutely. While I'm a strong advocate for breastfeeding and its benefits, my practice is a judgement-free space where your individual feeding goals and choices are always respected.
Whether you're exclusively breastfeeding, expressing, supplementing with formula or combining different feeding methods, we'll work towards an approach that's practical, sustainable and right for your family.
-
Yes, over the years I have supported many older babies with feeding challenges.
I regularly help families navigate feeding changes as babies grow, including milk supply concerns, bottle refusal, teething/biting, returning to paid work, breastfeeding toddlers and gentle weaning.
Your Consultation Experience
-
Yes. Following your consultation, you'll receive an individualised feeding plan summarising my recommendations and the practical next steps we've discussed.
My aim is for you to leave feeling clear about what to focus on, rather than overwhelmed with more information.
-
I use Heidi, an AI-assisted clinical documentation tool, to help prepare accurate consultation notes and your individualised feeding plan.
With your consent, Heidi can capture our consultation so I can focus on listening, observing and supporting you rather than spending our time typing notes.
Further details can be found in my Privacy Policy.

Breastfeeding is rarely a one-appointment journey, and some concerns benefit from ongoing care.
If a follow-up would be helpful, we'll discuss when to review your progress and what further support might look like.
You can book a follow-up consultation online whenever you need more personalised guidance.
I also have vetted group of trusted health professionals that I may refer you or your baby to, including general practitioners, bodyworkers (osteopath and chiropractors), paediatric nutritionist and more.
